Hi fellow Kappa alums! I am a GWU sister, Kappa alum, mom, and now children’s book author based in NJ! My series of Chinese-English bilingual children’s books features a bilingual bear cub named Boba Bear who loves adventure, fun, and boba (www.bobabearbilingual.com). These books were inspired from when I was first building my daughter’s book collection, and noticed that there were a limited amount of bilingual book options out there in the market. So, I created Boba Bear Bilingual in order to contribute to having more resources that celebrate different cultures and languages for kids. This initial series is in English-Chinese, but my dream is to expand towards many more languages in future editions! Boba Bear is in many ways a love letter to my daughter, Lily. I wanted to create relatable and engaging learning books that make reading a fun experience for both parents and children, in hopes that multicultural kids like Lily can find joy and take pride in seeing books on the shelves that celebrate their culture and language.

Somewhere in between storytelling and writing, Ran is a wanderlust. She enjoys road trips, hikes in the mountains, and cuisines from all over the world. Music is her native language, and her favorite brain foods are boba and books. Ran is a wife to an amazingly supportive partner, proud daughter to immigrant parents, and mother of a sweet and playful little bilingual boba bear cub, Lily. Get 10% OFF when you use code KPLALUM10
